The Be Rare Foundation awards one grant every year to female entrepreneurs and creatives pursuing mission-oriented projects with a focus on moving women forward—across industries. We are dedicated to supporting aspiring bosses in fashion, beauty, design, tech, media, entertainment and the arts. This year, our debut grant will award $10,000 in project funding.

who is eligible?
Grants are exclusive to female entrepreneurs working in fashion and beauty, design and tech, media, entertainment, and the arts. To be eligible, applicant must identify as female, be a US resident, and be 18 years or older by the close of the submission window. (We do not currently accept international applications.)
how does the selection process work?
Our selection committee includes The Be Rare Foundation founders and board members, as well as industry advisors. We review applications received within the submission window, and judge each project based on the following criteria:
Distinct female-forward mission (20%)
Creativity and innovation within specified industry (20%)
Business acuity and long-term goals (20%)
Financial need (20%)
Business Plan: clear 12-month timeline, budget, and work plan (20%)
what do i need to apply?
To apply for the grant, you are required to submit an overview video (2-5 min. long), an example of your work (via link or file), 2 required essays (500 word limit), and a business plan.

Here’s a checklist to prep before filling out the application form.

Give us the name of your project!
3. PROJECT OVERVIEW
Summarize your project in a few short sentences.
4. WORK / PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION
Share an example of your work through a link or uploaded file.
5. VIDEO SUBMISSION
Create a video (2-5 min. long) that addresses the following:
Who are you and what is your vision? What is your project and why are you passionate about it? Tip: start with a 30 sec. elevator pitch, then tell us your story. (YouTube or Vimeo links accepted.)
6. ESSAY SUBMISSIONS
Answer each essay question in 500 words or less.
Essay #1: How will your vision push females forward?
Essay #2: Among many definitions, we believe that RARE stands for “Rise and Rule Every day.” What makes you RARE?
7. BUSINESS PLAN
Submit a business plan that demonstrates how you will use the funds to achieve your goals within 1 year. Include a timeline, budget projections, and operations. (PDF file preferred.)
